REAL MADRID 2012/13 TEAM PACK

The 2012/13 La Liga ended is disappointment for the Kings Club, finishing second behind bitter rivals Barcelona, and crashing out of the Champions League at the Semi-Final stage to losing finalists Borussia Dortmund.

 

Finishing second in the league and getting to the Semi Final stage of Europe's top club competition would be hailed as a successful season by most clubs, and rightly so, but not if you are Real Madrid.

 

It would prove to be Jose Mourinho's last season in charge of the club, failing to win them their 10th Champions League crown, something he had vowed to do. The season was not a smooth one, with dressing room unrest and power struggles a plenty, non more so than with club captain Iker Casillas, who was dropped in favour of Diego Lopes.

 

Cristiano Ronaldo had another sensational season, racking up a mind blowing 34 goals in 34 league appearances. The goals were also supplied by Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain. The midfield also boasted an array of attacking talent, with Mesut Ozil, Luka Modric, Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria all fighting for those attacking places in the side.

 

Real were a sold defensive unit as well, aided by anchor midfielder Xabi Alonso, but if the play passed him they had a formidable back line, consisting of Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Marcelo, with Fabio Coentrao floating between positions in the side.

 

The pack featured Ronaldo and Modric on Black bases, however it would have been good to see them all on a single base colour, possibly White would have looked best. As with the Barcelona pack, the fact the pack contained no new figures or away kit variants limited it's appeal to most collectors, really just being on for the completist collector.

 

The pack contained the 15 collector cards but no Certificate of Authenticity, despite the marketing campaign used to promote the packs listing the pack as being issued with a COA. The pack had a RRP of £44.99
