2016 EDITION

The SoccerStarz 2016 Edition Foil Bag was initially released in September 2015 and like the 2015 edition it was released in a number of different waves. The figures found inside the bag seemed to mirror those being released in blister packs, it seemed to collectors that the bags were being filled at around the same time the blisters were being packed.

Base colour wise it seemed the figures were only on Green or Red base, it was not until the wave of bags came out in early 2016 did other base colours appear. With SoccerStarz stating the figures were available on 9 different base colours, Green, Red, Blue, White, Silver, Gold, Black, Orange and Bronze.

 

Manchester United once again had their own foil bag, however this was not released until February 2016, this was down to contractual issues with Manchester United, mostly regarding the replication of the kit.

 

SoccerStarz did provide a list on their official website of the figures which were included inside the bag, which I have included in the slide gallery, however it was not entirely accurate. It is fair to say that most collectors were once again disappointed with the bag, it was filled with the same figures and no rare bases in sight.

 

The only positive of the bag was that it included a rare and exclusive figure, which was the previously unreleased figure of Fred in Brazil national kit! The inclusion of Fred shocked all collectors and was highly sought after. His inclusion was perplexing and I can only assume that when SoccerStarz moved factories they perhaps came across a stock of the figure and instead of disposing of it they chose to include him in the foil bag, whatever the reason was it was fantastic to add this figure to the collection.

 

There are some other exclusives I need to detail, first up we have Michael Carrick in Manchester United 2015/16 home kit, this figure was released in blister pack with the player having Black boots however in the Foil Bag he could be found with Orange boots, a subtle variant and I leave it to you to decide if you class this part of the collection.

 

The same happened with Luis Suarez for Barcelona however the opposite way around, the blister has him with Orange boots but the foil bag sees him with Black boots.

 

The following 2 are something which only came to light on a random search of Japanese site Madbooth, I spotted Mamadou Sakho for Liverpool and Matt Jarvis for West Ham United, both figures had their blisters cancelled! I purchased both on Black base however I was able to acquire a few more Sakho including a Green base, while the Jarvis I also picked up on Red and Blue. These 2 figures are incredibly rare and there can only be a handful in existence and are seldom seen for sale.

 

The final figure to detail is Philipp Lahm in Bayern Munich 2015/16 home kit, which varies from the 2014/15 kit by the fact it has 2 White stripes on the shorts and the back of the shirt is different too. I pulled this from a 2016 edition foil bag myself and to date I have never seen another one!

 

As for base colours, Suarez, Carrick, Lahm  and Fred I have only ever seen on Green, Sakho I have seen Green, Red, Blue and Black and Jarvis has been seen on Black, Red and Blue.
